Strategic Overview

Ratchet (OP06-014) is a unique defensive utility piece for high-resource FILM decks. While he has 0 base power, his ability to turn any number of FILM cards in your hand into +1,000 power counters on your opponent's attack makes him a powerful "hand-to-shield" converter. This is particularly effective in late-game scenarios where you may have a hand full of non-counter searchers or high-cost units that can't defend you.

Ratchet essentially allows you to customize your defense based on the threat level of the attack. By trashing surplus cards, you can save your Leader or a key Character from a lethal swing that would otherwise be impossible to block. He is a high-skill card that requires perfect hand management to be effective.

• Uta (OP06-001): Ratchet helps Uta survive until she reaches her late-game ramp targets by utilizing early-game searchers as defensive fodder.
