In the mid-to-late game meta, having a searchable 2000 counter that can also double as a sturdy attacker is vital for survival.

Strategically, they serve as the "bridge" for decks that need high-cost characters to enable Leader effects (like Mihawk) while maintaining defensive hand quality. Their Alabasta subtype provides some niche searchability, but they are primarily used as a flexible slot that improves the mathematical defense of the deck against 7000+ power Leader swings.
